Learn Hang Gliding aan de Lier

The starting method in Vlakland: winches. A cable pulls you up, after which you look for thermics yourself. With this specialization for advanced students you learn how Lieren works and you can enjoy flying above Vlakland in a completely different way. And if you have the Lier notification note on your certificate 2, you can join the Lierclubs in the Netherlands and beyond! This internship is for pilots who can already fly reasonably independently solo, with little or no winch experience.

In the specialization Lieren you learn all the ins and outs of starting with the help of a Lieramachine, one of the most used starting methods in Vlakland. You also work on your autonomy and flying in challenging circumstances.

At the end of this internship you can start independently on the winch and you have been able to practice everything you need for the certificate 2 of the KNVVL with Lier notification.

Program and daily schedule

The days on the Lierterrein are nice and relaxed. In principle, we start at 10:00 am and fly until 6:00 pm. That is intensive enough; Especially with a small group this requires quite a bit of your fitness.

You make as many starts as possible to get the technology in the fingers. We start with 'short track', small straight flights of less than a minute to practice the start well. If that goes well, we switch to long track for flights up to 300 meters.

Planning DFA3 winches

A winch course lasts 4 days. Each course has a reserve block in case the weather does not cooperate. So always book both dates in your agenda!

The course takes place at at least 8 registrations. Check all the conditions for you.

Including and exclusive

The DFA3 internships include the use of school material, any towing costs and a third-party liability insurance against third parties. It does not include material, KNVVL membership and other insurance policies.
