Program

The basic course consists of 4 lesson blocks. Different modules with different topics and exercises are discussed in each lesson block. Most modules are from Friday afternoon to Sunday evening. There will be a day on national holidays.

The dates of the blocks appear at the top if you select a start date. We usually start on Friday afternoon and lessons in principle until Sunday afternoon.

We assume this package will help you reach the skill level for solo flying. However, hang gliding is a sport that takes up differently from person to person. If you need more time, you can book additional tandem flights . This allows you to learn to fly at your own pace, without time pressure.

Tandem flights

learn you fly by doing it. You go up the air together with the instructor and you do every flight more. You follow the towing device to 500 meters height, connect loosely and do all kinds of steering exercises on the way down. Ultimately, you also do the start and landing and if that goes well, you can solo!

Theory and ground exercises

Each lesson block consists of flies, theory and exercises on the ground. For example, we do steering exercises in the simulator and walking exercises with a solo flyer to prepare for your first solo flight.

Health and risks

To be able to follow our lessons, you must have a reasonable basic condition. After registration you will receive a form about your health and possible risks at the learn flying. You have to fill that in before the course starts.

Continue to fly? Also go to the practice slope!

air towing internship after the DFA1 beginner course , you'll also need to join us on the practice slope . This is a separate internship, and you'll need it to progress. Save the dates!

Membership Flying Association Westerwolde

From now on you will also become a member of the Westerwolde flying association, the flying association that is responsible for the field when registering for a course. That membership is included, just like the prospective membership at the KNVVL. We arrange that on your first day of class.

Did you start earlier and aren't a member yet? Then we charge a fee for using the airfield, which will be settled with you after each flight. This daily fee is €5 per tandem takeoff, with a maximum of €15 per day. For this €15 fee, you can also stay overnight at the airport. If you fly solo, you pay €15 per day, regardless of the number flights . Members don't have this fee.

It's a great experience !! The course brings everything as described, and more….

This beginner's course was exactly what I was looking for. With this package of 20 tandem flights you'll make huge strides towards becoming a hang glider pilot in a short time. With each flight, you learn new skills until you're finally able to fly solo, from takeoff to landing! And if all goes well, you'll fly solo for the first time! After 17 tandem flights I was allowed to fly solo for the first time. This unforgettable moment has hooked me on hang gliding forever!

To learn hang gliding good weather conditions with little wind are needed. This happens that there are lessons that are caught up again in another weekend. A little flexible agenda is therefore useful 🙂

I had a long time thinking about Whether or not to do it. After the Two Introduction Flights I was sold. The Rush That Comes with Being in Control of the Hang Glider Has with All My Expectations.
The Beginner's Course is comprehensive in its approach to combining theory with the practical experience. The instruction is Thorough and the Feedback Constructive.
