Practice slope Wüsteraterhof, Germany

Our practice slope at the Wüsteraterhof in Cond is a household name among Dutch Delta pilots. And right: pilots have been learning to start on a mountain ramp here for decades. It is an idyllic place in the German Eifel. Camping, flying, nature, culture, campfire, stars; Physical and mental challenge: this site offers everything you expect on a flying holiday!

Our facilities

The practice slope is on the land of farmer's wife Ina Rüber. We have a large shed for storing our materials and the quad and trailer to bring kites up. At the top of the slope is our heated classroom. Here we do the theoretical part of the training, but the room is also accessible to the participants day and night.

Overnight

Camping is possible next to the room, or on a campsite a little further away if you are looking for more luxury. There are also hotels and B & Bs nearby. De Boerin rents out rooms in the Wüsteraterhof via Airbnb .

Breakfast , lunch and dinner

We start at the cherry of the day. Some people want to have breakfast in advance, others have breakfast a little later. In principle you manage that yourself. you stay at Haus Löweburg , you will get a breakfast box with sturdy sandwiches, fruit, some drinks and some goodies. On request they spread extra sandwiches, also for people who stay elsewhere.

We have lunch together in the room, between the practical and theory lessons. Delta Fly Adventures provides purchasing, in consultation with the participants.

In the evening we often go out to dinner together, or we cook together on the slope. That also depends very much on the time of the year and whether we are still going to fly for sunset.

Active in the area

The practice slope lies in the Volkaneifel, a region rich in history and nature . You really enjoy peace and space here and in the evening it gets really dark. There is a lot to do and see in addition to flying: challenging walks, historic fortresses museums about natural history and mining and large cities such as Koblenz are in the neighborhood. During the internship we often also take a look at the flight of Neumagen, on the Mosel in the middle of a wine area. All in all a very diverse place, where non-flying travelers can also enjoy enormously.

Accommodations: prices and reservation

The best and most convenient is camping on the practice slope. You then have to get up less early and in the evening you can also enjoy the campfire and the incredibly clear stars.

Are you looking for more comfort? Then consider a room in Haus Löweburg. It is a traditional family hotel with authentic charm. Well cared for but simple, including old -fashioned design and extremely solid German breakfast. When you come flying, you get that breakfast in a box ("that crate") because you have to get up very early. If you are reserving that you come for Hang Gliding ("Drachenfliegen"), then you can usually cancel free of charge if the internship does not continue due to the weather. Let this confirm!

About 20 kilometers away is a large campsite on a lake , with many facilities for the whole family.

Address and route

The practice slope is in the hamlet of Siedlung Cond, at Wusteraterhof 1 . If you drive on GPS navigation, check before you leave whether you have the Cond near Monreal as a destination; There is another cond but that is 50 kilometers away! You drive through the whole village, make a right -angle turn to the right, an almost angle bend to the left and then it is the first yard on the right. Parking on the right at the start of the yard, the last meters on foot!
