Lierterrein Het Wolkenveld, Nieuw Schoonebeek Starting on the Lier is flatland flying par excellence

Lierterrein Het Wolkenveld Het Wolkenveld is just outside Nieuw Schoonebeek. It consists of large plots of organic grassland that we share with the young cattle of the owner, Hans Wolken. We have a container for material storage, a chalet for theory and meals and we can camp or stay in a B&B on the field. The site itself is very long and offers many possibilities, for beginners and advanced. It can also be nicely thermal!

The location

The Lierterrein is located in a surprising corner of the Netherlands, between Natura2000 area of the Bargerveen and the German border. Rest, space and clean sky, and a beautiful view while flying. We do not fly above the nature reserve, but you can see it, and there are often special birds flying over. If you remain camping, you will be greeted in the morning by the toky of the roaming chickens and building your kite, you also use about 60 young cows under the watchful. They are literally like the pinks!

Characteristics of the Lierveld

The Wolkenveld consists of 5 plots of 80 x 1000 meters and a number of plots of approximately 300 x 200 meters. There is a lot of space but with crosswind we have to take into account the ditches between the plots. Of course we pay attention to that with the planning.

Address and route

The Wolkenveld is located behind the farm on Europaweg 233 just outside the village of Nieuw Schoonebeek. If you come from the west, you first drive out of the village and after about 2 kilometers you will find number 233 on your left. Remove it at the 2nd ^bus stop after the village, then you are almost there.

Then slide the large fence open behind the barn on the right, close again after passage and drive a little. Parking behind the blue -green container. We also gather at that container on the first day at 10 am.

Active in the area

Enthusiasts of peace and space will enjoy themselves here. The Lierterrein borders the Bargerveen, a beautiful and special nature reserve where you can walk and cycle well. Just over the German border is also beautiful nature. And did you know that this region has a rich past, first as a peat extraction area and then in oil and gas extraction? There are a number of museums that you can learn more about.

Overnight

On the Lierterrein there is a mini campsite for tents and some campers or caravans. There is also a B&B of 'Friends by bike' with a number of spacious rooms and a dormitory. Camping guests can also register for breakfast and even a packed lunch is possible. A little further away are several other B & Bs, hotels and other campsites in the area with more activities for non-flying fellow travelers.
