FAI European Championships Hang Gliding 2026 moved to Italy

May 31 - June 13, 2026

Data and locations

The competition uses two famous starting places:

  • Cuarnan (Gemona):
With three separate starting floors and enough space to build up wings, this is a favorite among pilots. The location is suitable for southeastern and southwestern winds. A partly unpaved road leads to the launch area, near a cozy Malga (traditional mountain hut) where you can go for a drink or local meal in the summer.

  • Valinis (Meduno):
This place offers three starting platforms and an impressive amphitheater -like landscape on the west side. Thanks to the asphalted access and the wind conditions from ZO to SW, this is an ideal competition location. Here too, a Malga close by, which makes the experience even more pleasant.

World Championship Class 5 also coming

During the CIVL plenary meeting, the organizers also indicated that they are planning to also organize the 11th FAI World Championship Hang Gliding (Class 5). The CIVL Bureau is currently further elaborating the details of this candidacy.
