At Delta Fly Adventures we don't do a winter break - we fly on, literally and figuratively! While an enthusiastic group of pilots is training in our winter program, we are working behind the scenes on a future in which Hang Gliding becomes more accessible, safer and more attractive to everyone. Our vision, aimed at lifelong involvement, pleasure and a close -knit community, forms the basis of everything we do.

At the kick-off meeting in November we already told more about our plans and vision, and about cooperation with all kinds of partners to realize it. Below you can read more about a few current projects. Are you also inspired? Then we would like to hear from you!

The youth has the future

Young people in the air

The power of Hang Gliding is in a new generation of pilots. That is why we are developing a pilot project together with the neighborhood sports coach to introduce high school students to our wonderful sport. With trial lessons and tandem flights we ensure an inspiring introduction.

We are also building the instructors of the future. In collaboration with the DrentheCollege we offer a internship program to students from the Sports & Beweging course. We are therefore proudly a recognized training company!

Share experience, grow together

Mentorship

Our mission to build a close -knit community with our new mentor program . In this we link experienced pilots to beginners, so that knowledge and passion are passed on from generation to generation. It also works the other way around: the beginners keep the seasoned kites curious! Interested? Sign up and help the DeltaFloG community grow!

Insight and progress

A renewed curriculum

Our curriculum has been fully revised to support pilots in every phase of their development. There is now a clear structure, in which we link practical exercises to theory. Regular personal progress reports ensure overview and motivation. This not only offers the pilots but also the instructors a solid foundation.

Collaborate on improvement

Safety first

For us, safety is not a side issue but a core value. You can only enjoy flying when it goes safe. That is why we thoroughly examined that safety. Safety on the ground with a calamity plan for each location, and flight safety based on the guidelines of the KNVVL.

The guidelines are in the Hang Gliding handbook of the Hang Gliding department of the KNVVL. That manual is dated and there is important information. We raised this at the Hang Gliding department, and he asked us to help improve the handbook. We offered our first recommendations at the annual meeting in November 2024.

To a dynamic future

Collaboration with the KNVVL

The KNVVL plays an important role for Hang Gliding as a Dutch airport union. Yet the collaboration between schools and the KNVVL was not well arranged. We would like to improve our collaboration to shape the future of the sport together.

In August 2024 we made a proposal for strategic cooperation to the Hang Gliding department of the KNVVL. The then chairman of the department was very positive about the plans. In September we followed this with a discussion with the central administration of the KNVVL, including director Rembert Groenman. Our vision was also received enthusiastically there. The KNVVL proposed to meet again in October, with a core group of progressive delta pilots, the departmental board and part of the Central Board, to achieve good strategic cooperation together.

Unfortunately, that consultation has not yet taken place. It was postponed due to changes in departmental board. A new board was chosen in November and we expect an invitation for an interview in February or March.

It is a shame that we cannot yet work together, but of course we will continue to look for connection, while we continue to make and realize our plans.

A flying business card

Dutch Championship Hang Gliding

The Dutch Hang Gliding Championship consists of two parts: a part dragging in the Netherlands and a part of mountain flies in the Alps. The NK dragging is probably organized on our house spot in May. We participate in the organization!

An NK is a great opportunity to show what you have as a sport. The policy of the KNVVL is therefore to set up the NKs of the air sports as a larger event. We are happy to help with that, and we have introduced that to the organization of the Dutch Championship. In any case, we participate in the organization and we hope that together we can organize a spectacular event.

To welcome new pilots in the flying community, we want to offer all new students an prospective membership of the KNVVL. The KNVVL, which is not considering whether they want to work on this again, and how exactly. We will keep everyone who registers new!
